Professor Cantarero is Associate Professor in the Community and Regional Planning Program and an affiliate professor in UNL's Latino/Latin American Program. He is involved in research on quality of life issues in small towns in Nebraska that have experienced large immigration of mostly Latino/Hispanic population, with projects in Schuyler and Crete. He is also involved in research on minority health issues. He serves as a project director of UNL's Community Outreach Partnership Center, developing community partnerships with organizations to address locally identified issues. He is a member of the UNL's Latino Research Initiative, a fellow of the Center for Applied Rural Innovation, and a Research Associate of the Monteverde Institute in Costa Rica.
